Day Off, Wither Art Thou?

Today is shaping up to be pretty awesome.  We are expecting a visit from Rachel, Mike, and Mia.  Sarah is so excited I think she will pop out of her skin!

Every five minutes I hear a little voice saying “Is Rachel here yet?”

“Nope honey, not yet!”

“Ohhhhhhh!  She’s NEVER gonna come!”

“Just give her some time Sarah!”

“Well Mom, I like my friend called Rachel, but sometimes, I like to call her Heather.  I will be so excited when she VISITS US!”

For some odd reason, the more excited she gets, the bigger the voice.  The last few words always end up in some kind of enthusiastic shout… Rachel, consider yourself loved!! Sarah thinks you guys are the best thing since sliced bread!

That being said, due to an unfortunate set of circumstances, my spotless house of Saturday turned into my Monster Mess house of Sunday.   I dejectedly went to bed Sunday night dreading the Big Clean.  I awakened this morning, to walk down the stairs, and find a living room FULL of toys.  Looked like somebody threw up the toy bucket.  Several toy buckets, in fact.  *Sigh* better get to cleaning!  So the girls and I got to work.  Now, once that was finished, I headed into (dun dun dunnnnnnnn) THE KITCHEN.  This is where the real mess occurs.  This is the holy grail of messes.  I DREAD the kitchen with a fear unsurpassed by anythi…. oh!  Its clean!  Thank you Allen!!  Thank God for a husband who not only works third shift, and feeds the children breakfast in the morning, but CLEANS while he does it!!  (Thats mighty attractive in a man…) I am thrilled to report that the mess of yesterday is GONE!  …for the next five minutes, of course.

So, my house is clean, we’re excpecting a visit, and my day off is complete.  Except, I still have three children monkeying around.  Guess its not really “a day off” in the strict sense of the word when it comes to my daily activities.  But it sure is shaping up to be nice anyway!  Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to peel two children off of the TV to go do something productive…

I love chocolate, sticky kisses, quirky smiles, and funny qoutables my kids come up with. :) Belly giggles, snuggling, and homeschooling round out the list of loves. Not every day is easy, but every day IS a beautiful gift. Our life as a family is slowly changing and growing as a result of a renewed interest in God's Word. His influence has been a slow process of sanctification, and this blog is evidence of it.
